It's been about a year and a half since my last post, a lot has happened in that time...
We have lost a LOT of relatives: John's dad on Halloween 2013, my aunts Anna, Virginia, & Shirley, multiple cousins (& cousin-in-laws) Gabriel, David, Ronnie, just to name a few.
We did gain a new family member, Brisco. Yet another Great Dane. I know, say it isn't so.
This is the little fart a few days after we got him, age 6 months, sitting next to Olivia. We rescued him from the Kentucky Great Dane Rescue. On one hand he's a major cuddle-bug, on the other hand, he's a little sh*thead! He's all boy, always into mischief, but he's incredibly smart. He became our newest therapy pet over the summer.
John's health has been a big concern over the past year. Two bouts of cellulitis in his left leg, a blood clot in the right, and now a problem with the achillies tendon has him in a walking cast. A bad fall when we were on vacation in Savannah. Yeah, 4 trips to the ER in 1 calendar year is enough to last me a lifetime!
I've packed all that weight I'd lost back on and then some, such is the vicious cycle. And I've all but completely given up the 5Ks and charity walks, the neuropathy in my toes just kills me when I do them, but of course, accoring to the doctors, I've nothing wrong with me, so it must all be in my head. Tell that to my feet!
Gave up horseback riding at the first of the year. I miss being around the horses something fierce, but I needed a change to my routine. And I really miss going to the LUCI Ctr. **pout** So instead of riding lessons, I recenty took up quilting classes (again). I'm learning a lot more this time around. Ideally, I should've taken this class before the others, as it's more basic. But I'm having fun. I'm also taking dog training classes with Brisco. Clicker training that is. He's learning to paint and will be learning some new tricks in the coming weeks.
Beezly is doing well, she loves having Brisco as a playmate. I still say she's dumber than a box of rocks, but she is a sweet dog.
Olivia is still plugging along. She's 9 1/2 now. We nearly lost her a few weeks ago when she developed a-fib, but heart medicine seems to be doing the trick and she's fiesty as ever, and still likes to cuddle with her momma.
And Phoebe rocks as a therapy pet! The kids absolutely adore her, as do most of the adults. As long as we don't cross paths with strange dogs (or cats) while we're visiting places, she does great. She's a bit of a spoiled brat, but I love her so!!
